On behalf of a Docklands based financial services organisation, I am seeking an experienced Application Architect. Reporting to the Head of Application Architecture, the purpose of this role is to act as an IT Application Architect for in-house designed and developed mission critical settlement applications.
Due to the role requiring up to 2 days a week of office-based work, you must be UK based and within commutable distance of their London offices.
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with product owners and Application Development teams in maintaining and developing the architecture of the organisations in-house developed FX settlement applications and supporting systems.
- Production of high-level designs for delivery projects affecting the USP platform, in addition to maintenance of baseline design document and associated artefacts.
- Provide overall technical leadership to the project delivery teams enforcing and communicating the design and architecture.
- Provide feasibility & impact assessments of IT solutions to business and IT led initiatives.
- Engage with the Enterprise Architects, business development and technology platform owners to shape an application architecture, strategy and tactical plan aligned to the business and technology strategy.
- Drive continuous improvement to the architecture methodologies, processes and standards.
- Produce high level design documentation describing application solutions in accordance with the architectural development method including effective identification and management of technical risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies.
- Map business & non-functional requirements to IT solutions aligned to strategic architecture
- Provide feasibility & impact assessments of IT solutions to business and IT led initiatives.
- Evaluate and recommend solutions, alternative frameworks, products/solutions available to current and future releases of product.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to the IT delivery and test teams throughout implementation phases
Experience/Skills required:
- Experience in a similar role, designing and developing Back End mission critical applications with focus fault tolerant, distributed applications
- A good working understanding of all aspects of the software development life cycle.
- Experience with cross-border payments, foreign exchange and SWIFT and ISO2022 messaging advantageous but not essential
- A background in some or all of the following technologies: C, C++, Java, J2EE in a Linux environment
- Expert understanding of software design methodologies, processes, and design patterns
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and line-management skills.
