About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and influential Cybersecurity Director: Cyber Security Governance & Business Management to drive the strategic oversight, governance, communications, and stakeholder engagement activities within our IT Security function. This is a highly visible leadership role that sits at the intersection of cyber security, executive management, and regulatory compliance.
You will be responsible for ensuring robust cyber security governance across the organisation, translating complex technical and risk information into clear business-focused communications, and fostering strong partnerships with senior leaders, business stakeholders, and regulatory bodies. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the organisation make informed decisions, manage cyber risk effectively, and maintain alignment between security strategy and business objectives.
What You’ll Be Doing
Cyber Security Governance & Oversight
- Lead the establishment, operation, and continuous improvement of formal cyber security governance and reporting frameworks.
- Drive structured decision-making, effective risk management, and strategic alignment of security initiatives across the organisation.
- Establish and facilitate cyber security governance forums, ensuring effective operation, policy adherence, and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Oversee governance reporting and stakeholder engagement activities, ensuring comprehensive and meaningful communication across all levels of the organisation.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality documentation, reporting, and communications across governance structures.
Executive & Regulatory Communications
- Translate complex cyber security concepts, risks, and strategic initiatives into clear, concise, and impactful communications for senior leadership, Executive Committees, Boards, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Develop and coordinate reporting that meets regulatory expectations and compliance requirements.
- Produce high-quality presentations, briefings, board papers, and reports that inform, influence decision-making, and drive action.
- Support transparency and accountability through effective communication of security posture, risks, controls, and strategic priorities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership
- Act as a trusted cyber security advisor to business units and senior stakeholders across the organisation.
- Manage and coordinate cyber security enquiries, requests, and engagement activities from business stakeholders.
- Communicate cyber security risks within a broader business and operational context.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders, governance forums, and cross-functional teams to promote collaboration and drive security outcomes.
Security Business Management
- Coordinate governance forum logistics, including agenda setting, preparation of materials, facilitation of discussions, and documentation of decisions and actions.
- Support ongoing engagement between the CISO, IT Security leadership team, and wider business stakeholders.
- Drive effective communication between the Security function and business units, ensuring stakeholders remain informed of:
- Security requirements and obligations.
- Policy updates and governance changes.
- Security initiatives, programmes, and activities.
- Facilitate collaboration between Security and business stakeholders during both business-as-usual operations and significant events such as projects, audits, incidents, and regulatory activities.

We’re looking for a seasoned cyber security professional who excels at bridging the gap between technical security operations, executive leadership, and regulatory expectations.
You will be able to:
- Lead the communication of cyber security strategy, vision, risks, challenges, and achievements to senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Influence and engage effectively with Executive Committees, Boards, governance forums, and business leaders.
- Provide strategic leadership and expert contribution to the Business Management function within the IT Security organisation.
- Drive alignment between governance activities and the overall cyber security strategy.
- Build credibility and trust across technical, business, and regulatory audiences.
- Present complex technical and risk-related information in a way that enables informed strategic decision-making.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Skills & Experience
Essential Experience
- 12-15 years’ experience in business management, operations, programme management, or related disciplines.
- 8-10 years’ experience in a leadership or management role within a cyber security, information security, or technology environment.
- Demonstrated experience operating within highly regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of cyber security governance, risk management, and executive reporting.
- Proven track record of engaging with senior executives, boards, and governance committees.
- Experience translating complex technical information into clear business-focused communications.
Technical & Professional Expertise
Experience in:
- Applying regulatory requirements and industry standards to complex technical solutions and architectural designs.
- Presenting technical findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Providing expert input to governance forums, steering committees, and senior leadership groups.
- Developing policies, standards, governance frameworks, and reporting mechanisms.
- Supporting strategic decision-making through effective risk communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Interpreting and applying regulatory requirements, compliance obligations, and industry standards relevant to cyber security business management and governance.
