Permanent
Role: Data Analytics Manager – Exposure Management
Salary: Up to £130,000 + bonus + benefits
The Business
We are working with a high growth London Market insurer/MGU that has scaled rapidly over the past few years and continues to invest heavily in data, analytics and underwriting capability.
With multi billion GWP and strong backing from major capital providers, the business is now evolving its Exposure Management and Portfolio Management functions to better support underwriting and strategic decision making.
Data sits at the centre of this and this hire will play a key role in shaping that.
The Role
This is a hands on technical leadership role within the Exposure Management function.
You will take ownership of how exposure data flows through the business from ingestion and validation through to modelling and reporting with a focus on building scalable data pipelines, improving data quality and delivering insight to underwriting teams.
This is not a pure reporting role. There is a strong engineering and automation focus alongside the opportunity to introduce more advanced analytics and machine learning where appropriate.
You will also act as the technical lead in this space helping to set standards, improve processes and guide more junior members of the team.
What You Will Be Doing
- Owning and evolving end to end data pipelines for exposure and catastrophe modelling data
- Designing and building scalable data workflows (Databricks, Spark, Python)
- Driving automation across data ingestion, validation and reporting
- Improving and monitoring data quality across multiple systems and sources
- Integrating data from underwriting platforms, catastrophe models and third party providers
- Supporting reporting and visualisation (Power BI) where required
- Applying advanced analytics and machine learning techniques such as anomaly detection and predictive modelling
- Acting as a technical lead within the team and setting best practice
- Working closely with underwriters and stakeholders to support portfolio decisions
What They Are Looking For
This is a technical leadership role so strong hands on capability is essential.
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Experience building and optimising data pipelines (Databricks and Spark preferred)
- Experience working with large complex datasets ideally geospatial or insurance related
- Solid understanding of data engineering and data architecture principles
- Experience integrating multiple data sources including APIs and internal systems
- Exposure to Power BI including DAX and data modelling
On the analytics side
- Experience with machine learning or statistical modelling such as clustering, simulation or predictive modelling
- Domain experience is key
- Experience working with exposure management data within insurance
- Understanding of catastrophe modelling, reinsurance or portfolio analytics
London Market or Lloyd’s experience is beneficial
Nice to have
- OCR and unstructured data extraction experience
- Geospatial tools such as QGIS or ArcGIS
- Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP
Why It Is Interesting
High impact role within a growing and well backed London Market business
Strong focus on engineering rather than purely reporting
Opportunity to shape data pipelines, automation and analytics capability
Close alignment with underwriting and real business decisions
Senior package while remaining hands on
