A high growth fintech scale up is hiring a Head of Engineering to lead the technology function across software engineering, architecture and DevOps. The business develops platforms that enable traders globally to access funding and trade at scale. The team is small, so this position will require someone who is comfortable remaining hands on while also shaping strategy and building the function for scale.
Role Overview
The Head of Engineering will own the technical direction, drive architectural decision making and lead the delivery of robust and scalable systems. The role involves building and developing a high performing engineering culture, while ensuring the pace and quality of output remains strong. This position works closely with senior leadership to ensure technology aligns with commercial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Define and deliver the engineering strategy and technology roadmap
Lead the full software development lifecycle across backend, frontend, cloud and DevOps
Make architectural decisions that ensure scalability, reliability and security
Establish and improve engineering practices including CI/CD, automation, testing and observability
Manage and grow a distributed engineering team while remaining hands on where required
Oversee vendor relationships, tooling decisions, budgets and resource planning
Collaborate with business stakeholders to align technology initiatives with business priorities
Required Experience
Strong background in .NET and C# development with hands on engineering experience
Experience leading engineering teams and setting technical direction
Proven experience working across cloud infrastructure, DevOps and CI/CD environments
Comfortable working in an early stage or scale up environment where involvement in delivery is still required
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence technical and non technical stakeholders
Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical and hands on delivery
Useful Technical Exposure

AWS or Azure, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes
Data
SQL and modern data platforms
Frontend (advantageous)
JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks such as React
Scripting and Automation
Python or similar
