Iselin, New Jersey (Hybrid) – 2 days onsite per week

On behalf of a Leading financial services client, I am seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer. The role sits within the Technology function and is responsible for delivering 3rd‑line operational support across enterprise Windows Server platforms, VMware, datacentre infrastructure, and AWS cloud environments.
You will act as an SME across multiple resilient systems, taking full ownership of complex issues through to resolution while ensuring stability, performance, and continual improvement of business‑critical services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide SME‑level support across internal and external Windows Server and AWS hosted solutions.
- Prioritise BAU service delivery, ensuring incidents, problems, and service requests are resolved efficiently and within SLA.
- Maintain and support enterprise Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Maintain and support VMware virtual infrastructure.
- Support datacentre hardware and associated infrastructure.
- Participate in scheduled Disaster Recovery testing, providing SME input across relevant technologies.
- Create, maintain, and review operational processes and support documentation.
- Perform daily/weekly/quarterly system checks, ensuring issues are logged, tracked, escalated, or resolved.
- Participate in the on‑call rota and planned weekend work.
- Represent Infrastructure Support at CAB meetings, ensuring changes do not negatively impact service delivery.
- Identify, document, and manage operational risks, understanding risk vs impact in production environments.
- Drive automation and scripting using PowerShell and other tooling in line with SRE principles.
- Ensure internal systems are managed to industry best practice standards.
- Demonstrate strong ownership of problem management and prevent SLA breaches.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of IT processes and procedures across service transition and operations.
- Act as a self‑starter, identifying areas for improvement and driving actions to completion.
- Act as an escalation point for junior team members and support the team lead.
- Provide peer leadership, setting high standards for service excellence.
- Lead and oversee the successful release and transition of new IT services into support.
- Serve as Technical Lead on internal run‑the‑business projects, applying strong communication, organisational, and technical skills.
Skills / Experience required:
- Strong experience supporting production Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
- Experience working in financial services or other highly regulated industries is essential.
- Experience supporting enterprise web infrastructure services and related technologies.
- Experience supporting production VMware environments.
- Experience with data backup technologies.
- Experience with system management tools such as SCCM.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring systems (e.g., Dynatrace).
- Experience working with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and strong understanding of priorities/SLA management.
- Ability to plan and implement technical changes with minimal oversight and without service disruption.
- Strong collaboration skills across operational support teams.
- Experience delivering cross‑training on technologies and operational processes.
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Understanding of ITIL (Incident, Problem, Change).
- Good automation skills using industry‑standard programming languages.
- Experience supporting AWS cloud environments.
